| Cleaning Granite Countertops |
|
Granite countertops provide lots of benefits such as it can stand the test of time and minimum effort for upkeep. Granite is the longest lasting of all stones second only to diamonds. It can withstand boiling temperatures as a result of its hard composition. Although it is as mighty as Hercules, it does have an Achilles heel.
A honed finish is fascinating to the eyes but is not practical for daily use unless your house you want your house to feature in MTV cribs or you do not plan to invite guests for dinner. Although granite is physically tough, the other minerals do not share the same attributes as it and they are breakable. Do not haul anything across the stone as a measure to preserve the surface. Scratches enable stains to smear the otherwise shining surface. Regular polishing using penetrating sealant every year should maintain its charm and beauty. Remember to use diamond polishing tools for a glossy shine. Any marks left on the countertop can be scrubbed off using fine steel wool. Any sticky substance can be scraped off using credit card or single sided razor blade. Fine steel wool can polish out the small marks made during the removal. Consult professional help if the granite is chipped or cracked. Granite is indeed a Wonder Woman in the kitchen embodying its strength and beauty. Give it some love and it stays till death do us apart. |
